Livonia to weigh in on Asian carp debate
The City of Livonia is weighing in on the Asian carp debate.
At today’s 8 p.m. Livonia City Council meeting, council members will consider a resolution that would ask President Barack Obama, Gov. Jennifer Granholm and other officials to do everything they can to keep the invasive species from reaching the Great Lakes.
The resolution “requests that the president support all steps necessary to provide a barrier at the Chicago Sanitary and Ship Canal” or take other steps. The canal connects the Great Lakes and the Mississippi River, where the carp have already proven a major nuisance.
