Supreme Court To Hear Asian Carp Case On Friday
(Washington, DC) -- The state's Asian carp case goes before the U.S. Supreme Court this Friday, January 15th.
That's the date the high court has set for hearing Michigan's request to keep the ravenous, invasive fish out of the Great Lakes by shutting the locks on Chicago canals.
"Crain's Chicago Business" said justices might decide that same day whether to grant the injunction that's also being sought by several Great Lakes states and environmentalists.
Attorneys for the city, state and federal governments and the water district, which owns the locks, are expected to argue that closing the waterways would devastate the regional economy.
